Moss Dreadlocks mimics a natural hairstyle in which the hair is twisted into long matted or rope-like locks. This "Ratty Look" provides an excellent texture and adapts well into natural field camouflage.
MOSS Dreadlocks is unique & it looks different than burlap
Unlike burlap, 1-ply jute or MOSS Hair, MOSS Dreadlocks provides a unique and effective texture to aid in the overall concealment effort. It can be used alone or in conjunction with other natural fibers and natural vegetation.
Clothing / Equipment Application
Each strand is roughly the diameter of a No.2 pencil. The individual filaments are think but lightweight and moderately woven/twisted together. The user may tie it on "as is" or fray apart the strands for added texture. Although it is thick in appearance it is very lightweight and covers allot of surface area. We suggest utilizing shorter strands when tying onto your clothing. Long strands may tend to unravel, loosen up and clump off over time. MOSS Dreadlocks is an excellent fiber to use as a "filler" for your ghillie suit thus keeping the overall weight of your suit at a minimum yet providing an all natural vegetative look. You can cut the fiber strands in half or thirds if desired to achieve some texture and depth on your ghilliesuit. Tying ALL your fiber on at the provided length may yield unsatisfactory results and give a "Spaghetti" look. Going one step further you can also use 4-inch zip ties to hold your knots into place. This will ensure greater staying power onto your clothing.
Why does it make good field camouflage?
Since jute is a natural fiber it has all natural characteristics. The older and dirtier it gets the more natural it looks.
Natural vegetation makes the best camouflage...
Yes, exactly. Remember jute is a natural fiber. It can be used to supplement your natural vegetation or in place of when natural foliage is sparse.
What am I getting for my money?
Each bundle of fiber weighs about one-pound. We pre-package the fiber into a clear poly-bag and the fiber is folded in half, thus making the product bundle about 17-inches in length. Once you've extracted the fiber from the bag and lay it out end-to-end the fiber measures roughly 31-inches.
